Amid the call for him to vacate his position as House Speaker, led by Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.), Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) had a very concise and to the point response.

“Bring it on,” McCarthy tweeted Monday evening.

While Gaetz contends that he made the call for McCarthy to vacate his position as House Speaker because of multiple broken promises concerning an agreement they made in January, McCarthy tweeted out on Tuesday that he made the deal to keep the government open using a Continuing Resolution (CR) “so the families of our troops and border agents could get paid.”

“If a handful of Republicans side with Democrats to remove me for that — it’s a fight worth having,” McCarthy added.

The Washington Post reported on Tuesday that McCarthy “told Republican lawmakers that the House will vote Tuesday afternoon on a motion to table a resolution to remove him as speaker.”

As of this writing, the vote hasn’t taken place.
