Governo — excuse me — Prime Minister Justin Trudeau of Canada and President Donald Trump had a phone conversation on Wednesday, and, according to Trump, despite it ending “in a ‘somewhat’ friendly manner,” the talk reached a stalemate.

And even though the tariff war going on between North American countries is very important, Trump also intimated a point that I’ve been bringing up over the last few weeks.

Is Trudeau using this conflict to stay in power, even though he said he would be stepping down?

“He was unable to tell me when the Canadian Election is taking place, which made me curious, like, what’s going on here?” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “I then realized he is trying to use this issue to stay in power. Good luck Justin!”

And almost as if to double down on such rhetoric, the leader of the New Democratic Party (NDP) in Canada, Jagmeet Singh, told reporters that elections should come second, allowing his party to pass all the laws they want before there would be a chance they’d be voted out.

“Now is the time to put workers first,” Singh said. “We need supports of workers first, put in place, in place working, and elections after.”

Spoken like a true Marxist. How about that “democracy” the left is always talking about, eh? (See what I did there?)
