There’s only so many false narratives that a person can take. At some point, a true fighter will stand up and not allow people who want to write their own story to dictate the optics of the truth.
Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Director Kash Patel was dodging shrapnel from opposition during a Senate Appropriations Committee hearing on Thursday, especially when it came to Sen. Patty Murray’s (D-Wash.) time to question him.
Murray kept harping on budget proposals for the FBI for the years 2025 and 2026, to which Patel kept telling her that it was being worked on and there was no specific timetable for the delivery of the budget.
Once we got past all of that, Murray flat-out accused Patel of politicizing the FBI to go after ideological opposition, something the agency under former President Joe Biden allegedly did repeatedly.
Patel wasn’t having any of it, and you could see the look of shock on Murray’s face when he stood up, not literally, for himself.
Patel listed off the work the FBI has done since he was confirmed to the position, but Murray seemed to want the soundbite of accusing Patel’s FBI of politicization, specifically when it came to January 6th defendants.
“But you have placed on leave FBI employees responsible for the investigation of January 6th,” Murray said. “That sounds political to me.”
“I have not placed anyone on leave who has not violated their ethical obligation of their oath to the Constitution,” Patel said.

“If they were investigating January 6th, you believe they were violating an ethic obligation?” Murray followed up.
“Nope!” Patel fired back before dropping the hammer on Murray. “I think the common theme here is you putting words in my mouth, and I’m not going to tolerate it, nor will the men and women of the FBI.”
When Patel said that he was “not going to tolerate it,” you could see a look of disbelief wash over Murray’s face as if she’d never had anyone put her in her place before.
Patel's closing statement during Murray’s time put the final stamp on their exchange.
“We will hold ourselves inwardly accountable, and we will not be strayed from our mission because people think we’re politicizing the bureau,” Patel said. “If you want to talk about someone who was attacked by a weaponized bureau, you’re looking at him. And now he’s the director of the FBI, and he’s cleaning it up.”
Murray concluded her time by repeating her politicization of the FBI talking points, which means she either didn’t listen to what Patel just told her, she didn’t want to hear what he said or she was just doing what she did for the soundbite.
