When did being a complete dumbass become a prerequisite for an Ivy League education? What’s even worse is that the person who had one of the dumbest takes ever is a professor at an Ivy League university.
To be fair, if you are dumb enough — or at least gullible enough — to be connected to an Ivy League school, MSNBC is the perfect place for you to give your “hot takes.”
Columbia University professor Basil Smikle decided to speak in public on MSNBC about the recommendations and advised cuts being made by the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), only his opinion resides amongst the other tongue chewers on that channel.
Smikle actually said the following. Wait for it…
“There are people who are charged with trying to find savings. So yes, it’s an attack on the government, but it’s also an attack on this government. What I mean by that is it’s an attack on this government that used to be headed by a black man. It’s an attack on this government that almost elected a black woman to the highest office in the land. It’s an attack on a government that has been more welcoming and more supportive of people who have come to this country in search for a better life.”

Okay, there’s so much stupid there that it might take a minute to unpack. First, this guy probably has tenure, so it’s incredibly difficult to fire him. Second, Smilke seems to be a racist.

People are aware that former President Barack Obama is half white as well, right? In fact, the people that raised him — his mother and grandparents — all white. I’m denying his “blackness,” but have you ever seen him wearing his “Mom jeans?”
Anyway, what the heck does being black have to do with trying to save American taxpayers' money? So, because one black man out of 47 presidents was black, that means the presidency forever belongs to him? And because one woman who is half Jamaican, half Indian failed at becoming president, we have to keep the government bloated in order to maintain a certain level of melanin?
Let’s be real. This guy’s just pissed because his free money train from the government might not subsidize his BS for much longer.
And you know what? I will agree with Smikle on one thing — this IS an attack on government. It’s an attack on a tyrannical government that has cared more about lining its own pockets and the pockets of lobbyists and elitist “intellectuals” like him.
As far as a government that has “been welcoming…of people who have come to this country in search of a better life,” that welcome wagon is reserved for those who do it legally, not those whose first action is to break the law and expect free everything.
That time is over.
And concerning Smikle, well, DOGE might eventually find more waste, and all he’ll have to do is look in the mirror to know what waste they found.
