Rapper Tom MacDonald is at it again. This time his brand new video tackles the topic of the left and right constantly being baited by narratives in order to keep them hating each other. As the old saying goes, ‘Together we stand, divided we fall.’
The new video released on Friday, and appropriately titled “Me vs. You,” shows MacDonald from three perspectives, although we don’t see the third until later in the video. The two prevalent perspectives displayed throughout the video see dueling MacDonald’s, one in a blue hoodie and one in a red hoodie.
Obviously, the blue hoodie represents the left and the red represents the right. Both sides rap about the narratives that are pushed that people believe from their side of the argument. Of course, the red-sweatered MacDonald seems to make a little more sense than the blue, with the red side spitting facts and the blue putting forth establishment and media narratives.
After a couple of choruses of each side screaming at the other “I hate you,” the reality perspective comes into play, as shown by MacDonald dressed in all black.
Here’s the lyrics for the verse from the version of MacDonald that didn’t pick a side other than that of the people in general:
“No president will ever give a damn ‘bout the truth
It don’t matter who’s the winner ‘cause the people always lose
No president will ever break the system from inside
It’s a deep state plan dividing us into sides
It don’t matter if you’re left, right, black, white, red, blue
Conservative or liberal, rich, poor, me, you
Republican or Democrat, old, young, mean, cool
They promise us our freedom but then all we get is free doom”

What might be the most profound lyrics in the song are during the chorus when MacDonald explains the game to the audience.
“They put you on the left, they put you on the right. They tell you what to hate, then they tell you who to fight til you’re screaming, ‘I hate you!” MacDonald sings in the chorus.
I said many years ago that the idea of Republican versus Democrat was over, and that it’s more about the establishment versus the rest of us. No one listened then.
It looks like they’re listening now.
Great job, Tom! #HangOverGang
