“Oh, Canada. We allow you to exist.” I sang those words as a parody of the Canadian national anthem after their people booed the American anthem before sporting events. I was having a bit of fun. But, after the tough words from fake tough guys in Canada wanting to “inflict as much pain as possible to the American people,”  I really hope they do try to f**k around, because they’ll find out just how small they are fight-wise, figuratively, to their overly generous neighbors to the south.

In speaking about the alleged “tariff war” between the U.S. and Canada, Ontario Premier Doug Ford did not hold back on how he felt about President Donald Trump’s tariffs on Canada, going so far as to blame the “pain” Americans are going to feel on Trump.

“I can assure you one thing, we’re going to make sure that we inflict as much pain as possible to the American people without inflicting pain on the Canadian population,” the leader of Canada’s Progressive Conservative Party said. “You know, all [Trump’s] doing is hurting the American people.”

I’m sorry, but isn’t the term “progressive conservative” a walking contradiction? How can you be both progressive and conservative? Both of those ideologies go in opposite directions.

Anyway, Ford went on to say that while he feels bad for the American people, he puts the onus on Trump for “creating this chaos.”

“We have to run through every tariff and minimize the pain for Canadians, maximize the pain for Americans,” Ford said. “And I feel terrible for the American people, but it’s one person, it’s President Trump that’s creating this chaos.”

It’s funny because Canada has enjoyed a trade profit from their dealings with the U.S. And, now that Trump wants to make it an even percentage, Canadian leadership looks to be crying into their Poutine.

Considering the population, military might, and economic portfolios of both countries, all of this “pain” that Ford wants to inflict will hurt Canadians much more than the average American.
