When you’re the only person out of 403 people to be against anything, you’re either considered completely out of touch or a hero for standing up for what you believe in. Although this next one is kind of a head-scratcher, most would say it’s not that surprising when you consider the source.
On Monday, Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) was the only member of the House of Representatives to vote against the Subterranean Border Defense Act. The measure passed the House with a vote of 402-1.
You might be asking, ‘What the heck is the Subterranean Border Defense Act?’ Well, it’s pretty much what you might expect it to be, judging by the title.
“To require annual reports on counter illicit cross-border tunnel operations,” the bill states.

Basically, not all illegal border traffic — especially on the southern border — can be blocked by a fence or Border Patrol. There have been many tunnels going underneath the border over the years that have facilitated the trafficking of drugs and people.
Tlaib voted against having “an annual report to Congress from U.S. Customs and Border Protection on the activities of cartels creating tunnels for drug and human smuggling and actions taken by the U.S. to stop them,” according to Breitbart.
It’s not clear why Tlaib voted against bill, H.R. 495, but because literally everyone else voted in favor of the measure, the bill moves to the Senate for approval before possibly heading to President Donald Trump’s desk for a signature.
It’s actually encouraging to see all members of the House, regardless of party affiliation, vote together on anything…well, almost all members.
