Russell Brand Announces Upcoming Baptism: 'Opportunity to...be Reborn in Christ's Name'

Nick Kangadis | April 26, 2024

There’s not a lot to this next story. But, it’s Friday, and sometimes you need some uplifting news to take you into the weekend. Actor, comedian and podcaster Russell Brand has really done an image 180 in life in recent years. Once known for his rock n’ roll, promiscuous lifestyle, Brand — through the magic of keeping an open and critical mind — has apparently seen the light…literally.

In a Friday morning post to X, Brand announced that he will be getting baptized this coming Sunday, April 28.

“What’s been explained to me is that it’s an opportunity to die and be reborn,” Brand said in the video on X, “an opportunity to leave the past behind and be reborn in Christ’s name, like it says in Galatians, that you can live as an enlightened and awakened person."

Brand went on to speak about the importance of turning to Christianity and the criticisms of it.

“I know a lot of people are sort of cynical about the increasing interest in Christianity and the return to God, but to me it’s obvious,” Brand continued. “As meaning deteriorates in the modern world, as our value systems and institutions crumble, all of us become increasingly aware that there is this eerily familiar awakening and beckoning figure that we’ve all known all of our lives within us and around us.”

A lot of people don’t go that deep into their thinking before making a major life decision like being reborn. Brand obviously has, and kudos to him for — as said — becoming “an enlightened and awakened person.”

Amen!
