The USMNT was emphatically bounced from the World Cup by the Netherlands on Saturday, losing in rather humiliating fashion, 3-1. But that escaped the attention of Sen. Bob Menendez (D-NJ), who wished the U.S. men the best of luck - 11 hours after being eliminated.
The round of 16 match kicked off at 10 a.m. EST, meaning the Americans World Cup run ended by lunch. But Menendez - or his social media manager - apparently thought the game kicked off late in the evening, as the since-deleted tweet was sent out at 9:15 p.m.
We all know that stupidity is a trait that runs strong in liberal politicians and many times makes you want to scream in frustration, but this is one case where such stupidity makes you chuckle.
Menendez’s camp deleted the tweet, but not before former U.S. soccer star Taylor Twellman quoted the tweet, sparking some well-deserved mockery.

Are you saying we still have a chance?

The United States co-hosts the 2026 World Cup with Canada and Mexico. Maybe by then, the Garden State senator can keep better track of when the USMNT play its matches.
