Loudoun County parent, Michael Rivera spoke to MRCTV about the school board’s new identity requirements for their equity committee. Specifically, that they are seeking:

-One nominee from an interested member of the Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) community

-One nominee from an interested member of the Hindu community

-One nominee from an interested member of the Latino/a/x community

-One nominee from an interested member of the LGTBQIA+ community

-Three nominees from the LCPS High School Student Community

Rivera questions why they’re not also seeking a Christian, or maybe someone from the Jewish community if they want to be inclusive in their diversity search.

Is the school board is seeking out specific viewpoints from members representing each “community,” or are they open to diversity of thought within these subgroups? Check out the interview above!
