Now, CDC Warns of Deadly Outbreaks for 'All Natural' Products - Like MILK

First, the CDC warned us of deadly outbreaks involving what are typically considered “healthy” foods – now, they’re alerting us to outbreaks and the potentially lethal dangers of consuming a couple of things on the “all natural” menu.

Earlier this month, MRCTV pointed out the irony of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) warning of four potentially fatal, multi-state outbreaks – all victimizing people who eat foods typically considered healthful:

  • Alfalfa Sprouts,
  • Organic Shake and Meal Products,
  • Packaged Salads, and
  • Cucumbers

Now, the CDC has issued disease outbreak warnings for pistachio nuts and raw milk.

The CDC is reporting a multistate outbreak of Salmonella Montevideo Infections, which has infected 11 people in nine states, so far. The outbreak is linked to pistachio nut consumption and the tragically-named Wonderful Pistachios company of Lost Hills, California.

Wonderful Pistachios has voluntarily recalled a limited number of flavors and sizes of in-shell and shelled pistachios because they may be contaminated with Salmonella. The pistachios were sold under the brand names of Trader Joe’s, Wonderful, and Paramount Farms and were sold nationwide and in Canada, Mexico, and Peru.

The CDC is also warning of a Multistate Outbreak of Listeriosis Linked to Raw Milk which previously hospitalized one person in California and killed another in Florida.

While the CDC links the outbreak to Miller’s Organic Farm in Pennsylvania, it goes on to caution Americans that drinking any unpasteurized milk may be deadly:

“We recommend that people drink and eat only pasteurized dairy products (including soft cheese, ice cream, and yogurt).”

“Raw milk and raw dairy products can pose severe health risks, including death.

“Raw milk is milk from cows or other animals that has not been pasteurized to kill harmful bacteria, so it can carry dangerous bacteria such as Listeria, Salmonella, E. coli, and Campylobacter.”

Finally, while the outbreak warnings for sprouts, salads and cucumbers are no longer on the CDC’s homepage, the “organic shake and meal products” outbreak warning remains.
