It’s so funny to watch politicians and people in positions of power do little when it comes to the “peaceful protests” plaguing their cities. But when the “aggressive protestors” show up on their doorsteps, all of a sudden someone needs to do something about it.

Seattle Police Department (SPD) Chief Carmen Best sent a letter to Seattle city council members Sunday evening urging them to “stand up for what is right” in defending the city against “aggressive protestors.”

Best wrote the letter after a “residence” of hers “was targeted by a large group” of the aforementioned “protestors.”

Where was a letter like this the previous two months when these “aggressive protesters” were terrorizing the city? Sounds like a ‘rules for thee, but not for me’ kind of standard being set here.

“These direct actions against elected officials, and especially civil servants like myself, are out of line with and go against every democratic principle that guides our nation,” Best wrote. “Before this devolves into the new way of doing business by mob rule here in Seattle, and across the nation, elected officials like you must forcefully call for the end of these tactics.”

Oh, so now that the mob that regular people have been complaining about have come for the people in charge, it’s a serious issue. Funny how that works, isn’t it?

“The events of this summer were initiated in a moment of grief and outrage over the murder of George Floyd by Minneapolis police officers and so many other Black and Brown people suffering at the hands of injustice,” Best continued. “All of us must ensure that this righteous cause is not lost in the confusion of so many protestors now engaging in violence and intimidation, which many are not speaking against.”

Well, at least Best was correct in her assessment that the unrest was because of “a moment of grief and outrage over the murder of George Floyd.”

These “peaceful protests” haven’t been about George Floyd for a while now. A lot of the violence we’ve seen isn’t even about racism anymore, but a growing thirst from communist activists who want to subvert the meaning of the idea that is America.

It’s good that Best has finally decided to grow a backbone and tell the leftist-filled Seattle city council that they need to do something about all of the violence hanging over the city. But, if council members allowed police to do their jobs in the first place, maybe a letter like this wouldn’t be needed.

"Aggressive protestors." Say it with me. I know you can. If they're destroying property and being violent, they're criminals. If you want to be polite, just call them a mob. That's the best they deserve.
