During a Jan. 26 press briefing at the South Dakota State House, democratic lawmaker Erin Healy (D) accidentally used the word “killing” when trying to defend women’s “rights” to abort. Her co-panelists immediately tensed up.

Ian Fury, Chief of Communications for South Dakoda’s Governor, Kristi Noem, tweeted a video clip of the briefing. Here it is:

The full quote was the following:

When it comes to other exceptions, I’m assuming that we’re talking about rape and incest here, it opens up a great area for what does a rape mean? A woman should always be trusted when they say that they were raped. But how would they prove that? Does it have to be in the court of law? If that rape is found … if it had gone to trial and the person was not convicted, would that abortion now be something where we’re putting a woman at risk for being imprisoned, for jail time for killing her … her fetus.

*Immediate regret.

In South Dakota, following Roe’s reversal, a 2005 law came into effect that made it a felony to abort a child unless the woman’s life was in imminent danger. It’s important to note that the person performing the abortion would be the one charged, not the mother who aborted her child. With that, the abortionist would be charged with Class 6 felony resulting in a maximum of two years imprisonment, a $4,000 fine or both.

The Class 6 law states: "Any person who administers to any pregnant female or who prescribes or procures for any pregnant female any medicine, drug, or substance or uses or employs any instrument or other means with intent thereby to procure an abortion, unless there is appropriate and reasonable medical judgment that performance of an abortion is necessary to preserve the life of the pregnant female, is guilty of a Class 6 felony."

Healy’s remark that women would be “at risk” of imprisonment is false. The doctor gets in trouble, not the woman.

In South Dakota at the moment Gov. Noem is moving to penalize people who help administer abortions. Earlier this week Noem threatened pharmacies over their abortion pill distribution following the FDA’s decision to allow retail pharmacies to pass out medication abortions willy nilly.

It's kinda funny that the left is getting bad at continuing their lies and are starting to have slip-ups like this. As my mom always said, the truth always comes out.
