The establishment powers-that-be are getting mighty scared about the current “Freedom Convoy” making its way across Canada, along with those already in the country’s capital of Ottawa.
On Sunday, Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson declared a state of emergency since his city isn’t equipped to deal with the size of the crowds protesting authoritarian COVID mandates.
According to the press release:
Declaring a state of emergency reflects the serious danger and threat to the safety and security of residents posed by the ongoing demonstrations and highlights the need for support from other jurisdictions and levels of government. It also provides greater flexibility within the municipal administration to enable the City of Ottawa to manage business continuity for essential services for its residents and enables a more flexible procurement process, which could help purchase equipment required by frontline workers and first responders.
Don’t ask them how they felt about the Marxist Black Lives Matter (BLM) riots that engulfed U.S. cities in flames during the “Summer of Floyd” in 2020. Politicians don’t like talking about those kinds of “inconveniences.”
As noted by the Post Millennial, Watson’s declaration comes “just days” after he and the Ottawa Police celebrated crowdfunding site GoFundMe’s “removal of the Freedom Convoy fundraiser.
“I want to sincerely thank the team at GoFundMe for listening to the plea made by the City and the Ottawa Police to no longer provide funds to the convoy organizers,” Watson said on Friday.
For their part, the Ottawa Police admitted to lobbying GoFundMe to have the fundraiser removed.
