Advertisements for THINX, a pair of underwear designed to replace traditional feminine hygiene products and to perpetuate the fad of “freebleeding” while fighting “the patriarchy,” have been placed around the New York subway system.

An advertisement spotted on the New York subway system for THINX states the product is, “PERIOD-PROOF UNDERWEAR THAT PROTECTS YOU FROM LEAKS AND SOMETIMES THE PATRIARCHY, BUT NOT FROM MANSPREADING. WE TRIED THO.”

Another advertisement for THINX reads the underwear is “FOR WOMEN WITH PERIODS.” The advertisement includes the social justice caveat that the underwear is not just for women, but for “any menstruating human” (because admitting that only women can menstruate is apparently transphobic).

The website for THINX claims the underwear “protects you from leaks, wetness, anxiety, etc.”

The underwear comes in a variety of styles, with each pair being able to “hold” a certain amount of menstrual blood.

The website notes, “THINX acts as backup for some and as a replacement for others - you know your flow.”

THINX have been positively reviewed by BuzzfeedJezebel, and Bustle.
