Some people are just weird. That might not be “nice” or generally “polite,” but if we don’t begin calling things — and sometimes people — for what they are, then the weird becomes the norm. That’s how we get these “cliched” slippery slopes.

On Monday’s edition of “Good Morning Britain,” co-host Piers Morgan had to push back against a guest for a completely bizarre comparison that seemingly sought to let a member of Britain’s royal family off the hook by defending a proven pedophile.

Lady Colin Campbell, famous for writing biographies about certain members of the royal family, joined a panel on “Good Morning Britain” to talk about Prince Andrew’s recent comments about his possible involvement in the prostitution pedophilia ring of the late disgraced financier, Jeffrey Epstein.

After Morgan brought up that people can’t deny Epstein’s guilt after he had previously served time in 2008 for sex trafficking of a minor, Campbell said something that has left a lot of people upset.

“You all seem to have forgotten that Jeffrey Epstein — the offense with which he was charged, and for which he was imprisoned — was soliciting prostitution from minors. That is not the same thing as pedophilia,” Campbell said before attempting to hammer home her point. “Soliciting prostitution — prostitution.”

Morgan seemed to have no problem retorting in no uncertain terms to Campbell’s assertion.

“If you solicit a 14-year-old for prostitution, you’re a pedophile,” Morgan responded.

After a few second of back-and-forth, Campbell said something else that left even me scratching my head.

“There’s a difference between a minor and a child,” Campbell continued.

Umm…I don’t even know what to say to that.

Following that, Morgan must’ve felt bad for the depth of the hole Campbell had dug for herself, because they switched the conversation back to what it was originally about, Prince Andrew’s comments during his recent interview with BBC Newsnight.

“So once he knows this — Prince Andrew — this friend of his [Epstein] he’s been galavanting around, with all these women everywhere and all these properties,” Morgan began, “once he knows this guy [Epstein] was soliciting 14-year-old girls for sex — as prostitutes, right — once he’s done, you then go back to New York to stay at his house for four days to apparently say goodbye to this guy [Epstein] because you’re just ‘too honorable.’ Nonsense.”

As for the fallout for Campbell, she has reportedly been fired from “turning on the Christmas lights in Prince charles’ home town.” According to the Telegraph, organizers were “furious” about her comments on “Good Morning Britain.”
