Palm Bay Florida Police Chief Mario Augello is expressing some frustration with the criminal justice system following an arrest for a murder.

A 69-year-old man was found murdered in his home last Thursday. Police arrested 31-year-old Justin Giambanco in connection to the incident, a man who had been in and out of the criminal justice system for years.

“To be exact, he has 22 felony charges along with 24 misdemeanor charges. Yet, somehow this individual is out roaming free, terrorizing our citizens,” Augello said during a press conference.

WESH-TV has the details:

“This murder could have been prevented had Giambanco served his whole 53-month sentence back in April of 2021,” Augello said.

Augello expressed disappointment that the murder suspect was out in the public after repeated offences, one of which included allegedly assaulting an officer.

“The suspect in the case is another example of how our current criminal justice system is failing to keep our community safe,” Augello said.

Augello referred to Giambanco as “pure evil. ”

When Giambanco was arrested for the second-degree murder charge, he was already in jail on an unrelated burglary charge.
