President Donald Trump sent out a strongly worded tweet early Friday morning claiming that "treason" was committed against his "Campaign for President" and that "TREASON means long jail sentences."

Here's Trump's tweet:

Trump's tweet comes as Attorney General William Barr considers "changes to Justice Department protocol because of the surveillance of U.S. citizens in the investigation of the 2016 election," according to The Hill.

"Just like we need to ensure that foreign actors don’t influence the outcome of our elections, we need to ensure that the government doesn’t use its powers to put a thumb on the scale," Barr told the Wall Street Journal.
