'Red Hot Magazines!' This VA Delegate May Have Just Given the Most Embarrassingly Ignorant Speech On 'Assault Weapons' In History

A Virginia state delegate who just proposed a bill banning so-called “assault weapons” in the state legislature may have just given the most embarrassingly uninformed speech on gun control in history.

And, if not, it sure as heck came close.

During a recent town hall event, Democratic Del. Mark Levine, who represents parts of Alexandria, Arlington and Northern Virginia's Fairfax County (so we're not exactly talking about the heart of gun country, here) was asked by an audience member to define an “assault weapon,” which many recently elected Democrats have pledged to ban as part of their upcoming avalanche of anti-Second Amendment proposals.

What followed that simple question was an eight-minute rambling pile of word vomit that included demonstrations on “how a rifle goes,” bizarre references to “red hot magazines,” winded explainers on the dangers of pistol grips (which renders a gun inaccurate, Levine says), and wild claims about how AR-15s can shoot more people more quickly than other types of semi-automatic weapons because of...how they're held.

In fact, the entire monologue was so tragically devoid of basic facts and gun knowledge, members of the audience can be clearly heard snickering at Levine's claims as he attempts to describe guns to gun owners like they're two-year-olds who just learned what a potty is.

Really, the ignorance can’t be overstated. It’s truly a sight to behold. As a matter of fact, here it is for your own amusement…and horror.
