Texas GOP Congressman Dan Crenshaw is coming under fire for  claiming that those DEFENDING human rights are unscrupulously doing so simply to fundraise.

Writes Jeremy Wallace for the Houston Chronicle:

In a sharply worded email to supporters on Wednesday, the Houston Republican said there was no red flag provision in the big military spending bill that passed the U.S. House on Tuesday, which he supported. He said there are gun ownership groups — namely the Gun Owners of America — accusing him of voting for a red flag law when he did not and would not.

This pertains to the 2022 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), a yearly “funding bill” that ostensibly pays for military members and their missions around the globe – ya know, precisely what the Founders envisioned. And not only is it counter-constitutional on its face – since the US military is operating overseas without ANY Declaration of War -- it always, ALWAYS, contains tricky bills like pork projects and other matters that can be dangerous to our rights.

First, Crenshaw lashed out at members of the House Freedom Caucus who correctly cited him for supporting the original version of the bill and its included Red Flag law that would allow government agents to preemptively seize firearms from people without any due process and completely contrary to the Second Amendment.

As Kristina Wong reports for Breitbart:

Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-TX) called the House Freedom Caucus ‘grifters’ during an event on Sunday and defended his support for the original House version of the NDAA, which included the red flag provision, arguing that 'everyone knew' there was already a deal to take it out of the final version of the bill and that he was the ‘only member of Congress’ with a bill to outlaw federal red flag laws.

And then Crenshaw attacked the defenders of gun rights at GOA, as Hansen notes for The Texan:

’On that particular lie, the grifters went full force ahead, the Gun Owners of America, because they were trying to fundraise,’ Crenshaw added.

But, to paraphrase Shakespeare, “Me thinks the politician doth protest too much…”

Mr. Crenshaw supported the original version of the NDAA, which DID include the federal “Red Flag” gun-grab, and he already HAS supported another anti-constitutional federal “Red Flag” statutes since entering office.

In 2019, he supported the TAPS (Threat Assessment, Prevention, and Safety) Act, aka H.R. 838. As Shane Trejo wrote for BigLeaguePolitics in August (when Crenshaw was trying to disassociate himself from the record of his own anti-constitutional activity):

…Crenshaw explicitly supported red flag laws in opposition to the 2nd Amendment in Aug. 2019 when he felt it was advantageous to his political stardom in doing so.

And Trejo quotes Crenshaw, at the time:

’The solutions aren't obvious, even if we pretend they are. But we must try. Let's start with the TAPS Act. Maybe also implement state ‘red flag’ laws, or gun violence restraining orders. Stop them before they can hurt someone,’ he said.

Perhaps Mr. Crenshaw can take some notes, on his own record, and on human rights.

It’s not nice to attack people who are trying to defend their rights, and it’s even worse to be a hypocrite about it.
