Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar is using the coronavirus crisis to call for the immediate government takeover of all hospitals, supposedly just for the “duration of the virus.”

“Here is maybe a radical idea to deal with some of the pressures our healthcare system is facing: All private hospitals should be made public for the duration of the virus,” Omar tweeted late Tuesday.

Omar didn't elaborate on how the government could instantly shift the nation's entire private hospital infrastructure to a public system overnight to meet the crisis, or why a government that is now having to rely on private sector to provide them with enough face masks should take control of all U.S. hospitals.

Omar's suggestion doesn't come as a surprise. Democrats have come under heavy fire for using the current crisis to push a number of far left-wing agenda items, including freeing up federal funding for abortions, giving solar and wind energy tax credits, imposing carbon emissions standards for airlines, and pushing for student loan forgiveness, rent control and universal income, among other pet projects.
