Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! “WokeCenter” might be done for! We might actually be able to watch sports again — on one network anyway — that isn’t inundated with incoherent political ramblings. ESPN took a step in that direction over the weekend.

Commentator and political “activist” Jemele Hill is out at ESPN, according to the New York Post and a tweet from author James Miller.

Here’s Miller’s tweet:

Hill’s departure from the sports network is being described as “amicable” and will supposedly take place on Sept. 1.

The New York Post also reports that “sources” say that the $2.5 million/year contract Hill had with ESPN was bought out by the network and “her last day will be Friday [Aug. 31].”

Hill got into hot water last September for a tweet in which she said that President Trump is a “white supremacist who has largely surrounded himself w/ other white supremacists.” She immediately followed up that tweet with subsequent tweets talking about “white privilege” and how Trump’s “rise” was a “direct result of white supremacy.”

Jimmy Pitaro, who has been president of ESPN since March, said recently that the sports network is working to move away from political commentary and focus more on what made ESPN what it was: sports coverage.

“If you ask me is there a false narrative out there, I will tell you ESPN being a political organization is false,” Pitaro said, according to the Washington Post. “I will tell you I have been very, very clear with employees here that it is not our jobs to cover politics, purely.”

Pitaro is also the same ESPN president who made the decision not to broadcast the national anthem ahead of any NFL game that’s aired on the network.

It remains to be seen if ESPN actually reforms its ways or just replaces one talking head with newer talking heads that think that their political barbs are welcome by viewers during a sports broadcast.
