During the Fox News Republican presidential debate Thursday night, Florida Sen. Marco Rubio slammed the media for giving his rival Donald Trump and his personal attacks on other candidates “an incredible amount of coverage” as opposed to the candidates’ positions on the issues facing America today.
“I would much more prefer to have a policy debate,” he said. “I hope that’s what we’ll have here tonight. Let’s talk about Donald Trump’s strategy and my strategy and Ted’s strategy and John Kasich’s strategy when it comes to ISIS and on healthcare -- on the important issues facing this country.”
“But let’s be honest, too, about all of this,” said Rubio. “Media has given these personal attacks that Donald Trump has made an incredible amount of coverage.”
“Let’s start talking again about the issues that matter in this country,” he went on. “I’m ready to do that starting right here, right now tonight.”

He later refused to apologize for insulting Trump in recent weeks.
"If there's anyone who's ever deserved to be attacked that way, it's been Donald Trump," he argued.
