San Francisco used to be a place where culture and the freedom to entertain was paramount. Fast forward a number of years, and the majority of people there will literally boo you for trying to promote free speech.

Legendary stand-up comedian Dave Chappelle was performing Sunday evening when he decided to bring up newly minted Twitter owner Elon Musk on stage. That was apparently a bad choice, because a good portion of the people in attendance gave Chappelle’s guest a very rude welcome by booing.

There was some cheering for Musk, but the way Chappelle and Musk responded to the crowd’s reaction the negative definitely outweighed the positive.

“Weren’t expecting this, were you?” Musk said on-stage to Chappelle.

“It sounds like some of them people you fired are in the audience,” Chappelle jokingly retorted, referencing the house cleaning Musk has done since acquiring the social media platform.

Chappelle made other comments towards the presumably far-left San Francisco crowd, poking fun at them for their rudeness.

“You notice one thing?” Chappelle rhetorically asked before dropping another bomb on the crowd. “All those people who are booing — and I’m just pointing out the obvious — they have terrible seats.”

People have been going back and forth — ironically on Musk’s platform (Twitter) — on whether the Tesla founder deserved to the reaction. But, those tweets won’t be shown here, because opinions either way from random people — including blue checkmarks — really don’t matter when it comes to stories like this.

Chappelle did comedy. Musk came on stage. The crowd booed. Chappelle embarrassed them. End of story.

When those on the left coast find a sense of humor that ranges outside their hive mind, then maybe their opinions they never want opposition to might matter.
