On June 4, "The Acolyte" premiered on Disney+, and in the past few days it has been met with much criticism, mostly due to comments made by the creator and actors.

A specific comment that is recirculating on social media was made back in 2018 to comedian Trevor Noah on “The Daily Show” by Amandla Stenberg, who is one of the actresses in the show.

“When people watch The Hate U Give, what do you want them to walk away with because I know everyone has a slightly different feeling,” Noah inquired.

Stenberg's response did not sit well with Star Wars fans and much of the general public due to its controversial nature.

"Well, I mean, white people crying actually was the goal," Stenberg responded. “It was the goal.”

Ever since Disney bought the rights to the “Star Wars” franchise they’ve seemingly decided to go in a woke direction, which has not been met with the best fanfare.

According to an article by The Express Tribune, Leslye Headland, director of "The Acolyte," took a swipe at fans with her comment: "Star Wars fans who oppose inclusivity are not genuine fans."

In a woke world, sometimes people just want to sit back, relax, and watch a show without any of the extra stuff. But because of this push for inclusivity, people can’t do that anymore.
