Unfortunately, we have observed a concerning trend among universities with religious affiliations increasingly moving in a direction that supports the LGBTQ community and even abortion, which has left many people upset.

Georgetown University, a Catholic institution in Washington, D.C., recently announced plans to offer "gender-inclusive housing" for the incoming class of 2028, as reported by Campus Reform.

“New students can indicate they identify as transgender, non-binary, or gender non-conforming individuals seeking gender-inclusive housing, or they are welcoming and affirming of LGBTQ individuals and wish to be considered as a potential roommate for students seeking gender-inclusive housing,” the university noted, explaining how the housing would work.

In April, a student referendum was proposed and passed with overwhelming support — over 90 percent of student voters favored it, with 1,937 in favor and 188 opposed. This underscores the concerning direction many universities are heading.

Jaden Cobb, who is the Student Association President, stated how excited he was that the referendum passed.

“I am more than elated that the referendum passed,” Cobb said. “It is a testament that Georgetown students care about the LGBTQ+ community and making Georgetown a more inclusive place.”

As these universities continue to advocate for diversity, they appear to be moving further away from their original values as religious institutions. This shift is causing significant concern among many.
