Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) is pledging to block major progressive legislative goals if Democrats retake the Senate.
“We’ve been tagged - if you’ve got a ‘D’ by your name, you must be for all the crazy stuff and I’m not,” the senator told Fox News on Monday.
Manchin was discussing the Senate runoff races in Georgia, and how if Democrats win, bills in the Senate could be passed by a single vote.
“I commit to tonight and I commit to all of your viewers and everyone else that’s watching, I want to allay those fears, I want to rest those fears for you right now because when they talk about, whether it be packing the courts or ending the filibuster, I will not vote to do that,” Manchin said.
“When you are talking about basically, Green New Deal and all this socialism - that is not who we are as a Democratic Party. That’s not how I was raised in West Virginia. It’s not the Democrats I know.”
Extreme leftist Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) was quick to criticize Manchin on Twitter.
Stop worrying about progressives, this might be the reason we don’t win the Senate races in Georgia.
