Warning: this blog contains graphic footage - footage of the violence that seems to be happening far too often in America's public schools. And it's likely to piss you off.

Shocking - and I do mean shocking, even in today’s day and age - video out of Flagler County, Florida shows a massive teenage boy knocking a teacher’s aide unconscious and beating the absolute stuffing out of her while she lays prostrate on the ground and several onlookers watch.

I’ll warn you again: it’s graphic, disturbing, and downright infuriating.

The student, who hasn’t been named but who has been identified in local reports as having “special needs,” can be seen on Matanzas High School surveillance footage bum-rushing the young woman as she walks away from him and knocking her to the ground before standing over her and punching her repeatedly in the head and torso. Local police said the boy chased the woman out of the classroom after she took away his Nintendo Switch in class, finally catching up with her in the hallway.

In the video, at least a few people can be seen observing the attack without intervening, while others seemingly calmly walk up to the boy and try to gently pull him away. Things got a little more aggressive as it became clear he wasn't going to stop his assault. Meanwhile, the poor woman on the ground is repeatedly stomped on and punched at least a dozen times. The school’s resources officers reportedly showed up a few minutes later.

Reports state the kid is 6 feet, 7 inches and weighs about 270 pounds - so the equivalent of being tackled and assaulted by an NFL linebacker. Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly called the footage “shocking,” saying the attack could have easily ended up a homicide.

The teacher's aide, who's been at the school since 2004, was taken to the hospital and has since been released, though the school is declining to comment on her condition because of privacy concerns. The student, on the other hand, is looking at a felony aggravated battery charge and expulsion. Which makes sense, given the nature of the assault and the fact that he told deputies he'd "beat her up" or even try to kill her if she ever takes his game away again.
