Just when you thought all the most ridiculous things in life had already been politicized, think again. I give you…raisins. Yup, raisins.

On Monday, a minor league affiliate of the Washington Nationals, the Fresno Grizzlies, apologized after including an image of socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) amongst the images of Communist dictators in the “enemies of freedom” portion of a Memorial Day tribe video.

You’d think the story would’ve ended with the apology. They acknowledged their supposed mistake and gave a public mea culpa for the gaffe.

But for one of the Grizzlies sponsors, Sun-Maid, the apology wasn’t enough to make up for disparaging climate change alarmist from the Bronx.

According to a statement from Sun-Maid, as reported by the Fresno Bee:

We are deeply disappointed by the Memorial Day tribute video the Fresno Grizzlies aired on Monday. Sun-Maid does not support the views or sentiments expressed in the video, nor does it condone the airing of it.

While the Grizzlies have apologized for this mistake, we are standing on the side of what we believe is right and terminating our sponsorship of the team.

By acknowledging the Grizzlies’ apology, but not accepting it and moving on, Sun-Maid is essentially saying that people aren’t allowed to make mistakes or apologize for something that might objectively offend people. With this action, Sun-Maid is intimating that they are perfect.

Another question that should be raised by this decision is whether an apology should even have been made in the first place if it’s not going to be enough for people or companies that seemingly don’t care about said apologies, instead settling for taking some self-perceived, arbitrary moral high ground.
