The suspect arrested over the hit-and-run attack against “Freedom Convoy” protesters in Winnipeg last Friday is reportedly a member of Antifa in Canada.

42 year old David Alexander Zegarac faces numerous charges in relation to the incident, including four counts of assault with a weapon, failing to stop at the scene of an accident and dangerous operation of a vehicle causing bodily harm.

In a New York Post article Andy Ngo reports that “Zegarac was well-known as the frontman and vocalist of several Antifa punk bands since the early 2000s” and was vocal about his radical politics and his veganism.

Ngo also notes that “On Zegarac’s Facebook, he has mocked anti-mandate protesters and in one post from November 2020, wrote, “I dont know why folk are hating on masks….I love mine.”

A Canadian police spokesman said in a news conference Saturday that they couldn’t speak to the driver’s motivations.
