According to an analysis from the pro-abortion Guttmacher Institute, abortions in North Carolina dropped more than 30 percent from June 2023 to July 2023 after a 12-week abortion ban took effect. In response to the legitimately lifesaving news, lefties were disappointed.

Guttmacher Institute released an interactive chart that tracked the number of abortions every month from January to July 2023. On the chart, users could select a state to see the six month results.

As reported, North Carolina recorded 4,230 abortions this past June. In the very next month, North Carolina recorded 2,920 abortions. That marked a more than 30 percent decrease which is more than triple the decrease nationally, which was seven percent.

In North Carolina, a 12-week pro-life law was passed in May and enacted in July, which was likely the reason why so many babies weren't aborted. Praise God!

The law clarified that after 12-weeks babies could not be aborted, except for rare circumstances like rape, incest or the life of the mother. It also insisted that those specific abortions need to be done in a hospital, not an abortion center, likely for both safety and accountability.

The Guttmacher Institute reported the following:

In the first six months of 2023, North Carolina recorded 55 percent more abortions than it did in a comparable time frame last year, according to the Guttmacher analysis. In June, the month before the state’s new law took effect, North Carolina clinics recorded 4,230 abortions. The recent decline in abortions in the state represented 1,310 fewer abortions compared to what clinics performed in the previous month.

In response to the news, there were mixed signals.

The North Carolina Values Coalition Executive Director Tami Fitzgerald told LifeNews that this was “great news” and added that there was still more work to be done.

“After Dobbs, abortions in North Carolina were up 37%, so while 30% is an encouraging number, we still need to reduce abortions in North Carolina, as 90% of abortions are done before the twelfth week," Fitzgerald said. "North Carolina needs to continue saving the lives of even more unborn babies, while supporting and caring for their mothers.”

Not the Bee called the news “outstanding.”

On the other hand, Planned Parenthood of South Atlantic in North Carolina insisted the news was a result of a violation of “basic human rights.” Occupy Democrats called the analysis “chilling” and said it was a “far-right law,” insisting that it was a horror that belonged to “Donald Trump’s Republican-packed court.”

I’m really unsure why this is a controversial issue. Shouldn’t the goal of our nation be to protect and save lives, not end them? If that’s the case, why are there still people sad that babies WEREN’T killed.

All in all, this is good news. Lefties can suck it.
