A top White House official berated unvaccinated Americans by snidely predicting a deadly winter for themselves and their families due to their not getting the COVID shot – a jab that’s so far proven far less effective at stopping the infection and spread of the coronavirus than previously thought.
“We are intent on not letting Omicron disrupt work and school for the vaccinated,” Jeffrey Zients, counselor to the President, said during a briefing Friday, referring to a mild variant of the virus that’s so far caused only a handful of deaths worldwide. “You’ve done the right thing, and we will get through this.”
“For the unvaccinated, you’re looking at a winter of severe illness and death for yourselves, your families, and the hospitals you may soon overwhelm,” he went on.
“So, our message to every American is clear: There is action you can take to protect yourself and your family," Zients continued. "Wear a mask in public indoor settings. Get vaccinated, get your kids vaccinated, and get a booster shot when you’re eligible.”
To remind, that would be the booster for the vaccine that's supposed to keep you from catching and spreading the virus that you can still catch and spread even if you get the vaccine.
And the face mask you're supposed to wear even though you're vaccinated to keep from spreading the disease you aren't supposed to be able to catch in the first place given that...well, you're vaccinated.
And the shot you're supposed to give your underage children, even though they're at a near-zero perfect risk of suffering and dying from COVID, and at a substantially smaller risk of even catching or spreading it.
But sure. Let's go with that.
