Trouble in Utopia? Senate Dems Want Pelosi to Send Impeachment Articles Sooner Than Later

Even though pretty much every Democrat believes that President Donald Trump should be removed from office because he won an election that one time, some of them in the Senate are beginning to question the impeachment process headed by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.).

On Wednesday, Politico reported that several Senate Democrats have begun to question Pelosi’s tactic of withholding impeachment articles passed in the House from moving on to hearings in the Senate.

Again, keep in mind that Senate Democrats are not opposed to impeaching Trump.

Here’s some of the quotes from Senate Democrats, according to Politico:

Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.)

The longer it goes on the less urgent it becomes. So if it’s serious and urgent, send them over. If it isn’t, don’t send it over.

Sen. Jon Tester (D-Mont.)

We need to get folks to testify and we need more information ... but nonetheless, I’m ready. I don’t know what leverage we have. It looks like the cake is already baked.

Sen. Chris Coons (D-Del.)

I respect the fact that she is concerned about the fact about whether or not there will be a fair trial. But I do think it is time to get on with it.

Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.)

We were ready on the day the articles were voted to conduct the trial. At some point, it’s appropriate to send them and in effect pass the baton to senators who are going to continue to insist on witnesses and documents.

Obviously, most Democrats are still on the side of doing whatever it takes to get Trump removed from office. If that means stalling the proceedings from moving forward until closer to the 2020 election, they’re more than happy to do it.

However, the seemingly never-ending power struggle between Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is taking its toll on the perceived validity of the impeachment proceedings. If Pelosi and those with her on the left are so certain that Trump committed a crime worthy of removal from office, then why delay? If it’s such an open-and-shut case, why not move forward and let the whole world see the seemingly egregious crimes of Trump?
