President Trump spoke to reporters Friday afternoon after news broke that Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) plans to file an ethics complaint against House Speaker Nancy Pelosi for tearing up the President’s State of the Union speech on live television.

Trump claimed that Pelosi “broke the law” by ripping up her ceremonial copy of his speech that said that “it was terrible” what she did.

“First of all, it’s an official document. You’re not allowed,” he said. “It’s illegal what she did. She broke the law.”

“I thought it was terrible,” Trump continued. “I thought it was very disrespectful to the Chamber, to the country…”

He added that he didn’t know Pelosi had ripped up the speech until after.

When asked whether he would “ever really be able to work with [Pelosi]” after that, Trump replied, “I think there’s a lot of evil on that side. They’ve gone crazy. They’ve gone totally crazy.”
