The social media landscape has always been a cesspool, but it looks like there's a new platform coming that looks to "drain the swamp."
Former President Donald Trump's Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG) is merging with Digital World Acquisition Corp. (DWAC) and is announcing the launch of a new social media platform, "TRUTH Social."
Trump spokeswoman Liz Harrington tweeted out the announcement on Wednesday, which stated the goal of TMTG is "to create a rival to the liberal media consortium and fight back against the 'Big Tech' companies of Silicon Valley, which have used their unilateral power to silence opposing voices in America."
Trump himself gave a statement within the announcement:
I created TRUTH Social and TMTG to stand up to the tyranny of Big Tech. We live in a world where the Taliban has a huge presence on Twitter, yet your favorite American president has been silenced. This is unacceptable. I am excited to send out my first TRUTH on TRUTH Social very soon. TMTG was founded with a mission to give a voice to all. I'm excited to soon begin sharing my thoughts on TRUTH Social and to fight back against Big Tech. Everyone asks me why doesn't someone stand up to Big Tech? Well, we will be soon!

As noted in the announcement, the platform will have a Beta version available in November by invite only, which people can sign up to be on a list for at www.truthsocial.com. The site is expected to be available to all, "nationwide," in the "first quarter of 2022."
