As they make their bid for the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination, left-wing candidates have overwhelmingly come out in favor of reparations for African-Americans. So, it's only fitting that they should make that repayment now, right?

At least, Rob Smith, an Iraq War veteran and black conservative, thought so. In an attempt to call Democrats out on their bogus plans, Smith met with several presidential hopefuls at the Iowa State Fair this week to see if he could get reimbursed "right now."

“Alright, Congressman Ryan. How’s it going?” Smith asked Rep. Tim Ryan (D-Ohio). “Quick question. You support reparations, correct?”

Ryan confirmed and Smith decided to find out if the congressman was up for putting his money where his mouth is.

“Is there any way that I can have the money now?” he asked. “Like physically? I got PayPal, I got Cash App. I got Venmo.”

Ryan of course laughingly said no and Smith moved on to Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) among several other Democrats.

Warren said he should probably take a look at the reparations bill. Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.) told him he didn’t know what he was talking about and didn’t read the bill. Marianne Williamson told him “no” and that she wanted to start a reparations council. Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-Hawaii) said this was a “conversation we need to have as a country.”

Smith’s other encounters with Democratic candidates were pretty entertaining as well.

It’s funny to see politicians’ responses when questioned by people unexpectedly. Here’s what some of them previously said about reparations (before they encountered Smith):

  • Warren: “I believe it’s time to start the national full-blown conversation about reparations.”
  • Booker: “I support reparations.”
  • Julian Castro: “This country should resolve its original sin of slavery and one of the ways we should consider doing that is through reparations.”
  • Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.): “I firmly support congresswoman Jackson Lee’s bill to create a commission to study reparations.”
  • Williamson: “I propose a plan for reparations for slavery.”
  • Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.): "When I am elected president, I will sign that bill.”
