NYC is a haven for shoplifters, with retail thefts hitting record levels for the second year in a row in 2022, according to a New York Post analysis of police data.

Even Mayor Eric Adams is telling shopkeepers to bar people from their businesses if they “refuse to pull down their mask when they first come into a store.”

Recently a video was released showing a Foodtown worker in the Bronx getting pummeled as he attempted to stop shoplifters.

Shop workers who are tired of the shoplifting trend and the lax response from officials, have been seen confronting shoplifting suspects on their own across the country.

Video footage from News 12, shows one confrontation going badly for the store worker who gets knocked to the floor and then viciously pummeled while he was down.

The store manager said the altercation began when the worker confronted a man and woman about leaving with unpaid food stashed in their bag.

Some claim shoplifting and retail theft come from a feeling of “entitlement”

“Today, this thing is an epidemic. It’s spreading faster than COVID,” former chairman and CEO of Chrysler and Home Depot CEO Bob Nardelli told Fox News in December. “The degree of severity now, it’s not just theft, it’s smash and grab. There’s an entitlement out there that if you have it, you’ve worked hard to earn it. ‘I want it. I’m just going to take it.'”
