Patience and love are two areas that a lot of people need help rediscovering.
A Mississippi Wal-Mart cashier exhibited both of those things recently when encountering a gentleman who was embarrassed for having to pay for his items in change.
An unidentified older man was in the checkout line at his local Wal-Mart. When it came time for him to pay for his items, the man pulled out a handful of change.
Possibly embarrassed by paying with change, and for holding up the people behind him in line, the man repeatedly began apologizing while “miscounting the change” and getting “flustered.”
The woman behind the man in the checkout line observed the interaction between the cashier and the man and was surprised with what the cashier did next. The woman, Spring Herbison Bowlin, posted about the interaction on Facebook.
According to Bowlin’s post:
This beautiful cashier takes his hands and dumps all the change on the counter and says, "This is not a problem, honey. We will do this together." He continues to apologize to both of us as we reassure him it's ok.
The man left once his transaction was complete, but Bowlin wanted to personally thank the cashier for what she just witnessed.
“Thank you for being so patient with him,” Bowlin told the cashier.
The cashier’s response was nothing short of perfect.
“You shouldn't have to thank me, baby,” the cashier told Bowlin. “What's wrong with our world is we've forgotten how to love one another.”
Amen! A little kindness and patience goes a long way. Pay it forward.
