The Washington Post clearly has nothing better to write about.

One of its writers on Tuesday penned a fashion op-ed about First Lady Melania Trump’s Christmas decorations for the White House this year, which were unveiled on Monday.

Surprisingly, the focus of the op-ed isn't to mock the decorations, being that the Left makes sure to take issue with them somehow every year. This year’s “Spirit of America” theme actually receives a thumbs-up of approval as "all quite lovely."

But no, the focus is the First Lady’s “distraction” of a winter coat, which she is seen wearing during a video tour of the White House Christmas décor.

“First Lady Melania Trump unveiled this year’s White House Christmas decorations in a gauzy video in which she strolls through the public rooms marveling at their holiday luster. She gingerly adjusts a single red rose in a lush floral swag draped over a mantelpiece and delicately sprinkles glittery faux snow on one of the many white-decorated trees. The theme this year is ‘The Spirit of America’ and the dominant color is wintry white with festive bursts of holiday red. It’s all quite lovely. So there’s that," WaPo fashion critic Robin Givhan writes.

“For her tour, Mrs. Trump wears all white,” she continues, “a dress with a simple jewel neckline, white stiletto-heeled pumps and a white coat. The coat is draped over her shoulders as she strolls through the White House.

The coat looks ridiculous.

Givhan goes on to rant about how the coat “is a distraction” and “a discomforting affectation taken to a ludicrous extreme.”

“In a video that is intended to celebrate the warmth and welcoming spirit of the holiday season, that simple flourish exudes cold, dismissive aloofness,” she says.

The writer makes sure to note her disapproval of Mrs. Trump as "the sort of host who greets her guests at the front door, tells them to remove their shoes and warns them not to sit on the Lalanne sheep.”

Givhan offers all but one paragraph about the actual decorations, which the First Lady undoubtedly works very hard on every year in anticipation of her critics.

As beautiful as this year’s holiday décor is, Mrs. Trump simply cannot catch a break it seems.

If you’re wondering what all the commotion is over her apparently deeply outrageous coat, check out the video below.
