The State of Washington is taking the effort to bribe people into getting a COVID vaccine to new lows – or, in this case, new highs.

Per this, as of Monday, the State Liquor and Cannabis Board voted to allow licensed cannabis distributors to offer one pre-rolled joint to customers who get The Jab at in-store vaccination centers, which have apparently been set up at some dispensaries. Bars and restaurants in Washington and other states have already been authorized to give away beers and shots to vaccine-getters as part of a patchwork or incentive programs across the nation.

The "Joints for Jabs" effort comes as many states attempt to ramp up their low vaccination rates through events like lotteries, raffles, competitions and give-aways. States including Maryland and Ohio have offered million-dollar lotteries for those willing to get the shot, while West Virginia is giving away free pick-up trucks, guns, and savings bonds. Illinois is handing out tickets to theme parks.

Delaware is even incentivizing prisoners to get the shot by giving them a special meal or five days off their sentence as part of the deal.

Anheuser-Busch announced they would buy everyone in America (presumably 21 and older) a beer if the country reaches the Biden administration’s goal of 70 percent vaccinated by July 4. So far, only about 52 percent of the country has been fully vaccinated against COVID, while just over 60 percent have gotten at least one shot, according to the White House.
