WATCH: A National Anthem So Painful, the Whole County Apologizes

Eric Scheiner | August 9, 2017

You know your performance is bad when a whole county apologizes for it.

Summit County, Utah officials came out and apologized to those offended by a performance of the National Anthem at the county fair.

“Summit County wishes to express a sincere apology to anyone who attended the 2017 fair demolition derby and felt the performance of the national anthem did not meet reasonable expectations of decorum,” the county said in a statement posted on social media.

The county was contacted after the event by numerous people who felt the performance was disrespectful (you can judge for yourself in the video below).

Krachel Greenwood, Summit County’s Public Affair Coordinator, told 2News Utah they are taking full responsibility for the performance.

“It appeared she (the singer) had a solid history. She is from Summit County. We always try to highlight local talent,” Greenwood said.

“We don’t have a clear answer on what happened. We are re-evaluating our procedures on how talent is selected, screening mic checks and even paying more attention in the final moments before the performance.”

Greenwood would not deny or confirm whether the performer was intoxicated.

Drunk or not, the performance is certainly cringe-worthy.
