During Friday’s press briefing, White House spokesman Sean Spicer discussed the new sanctions imposed on Iran by the Trump administration in response to the Islamic Republic's recent missile tests and continued ballistic missile program.

“I hope that Iran realizes that after the provocative measures that they’ve taken, that they understand that this president – this administration – is not going to sit back and take it lightly,” said Spicer.

“The deal that was struck private, previously was not in the best interest of this country,” he went on, referring to the Obama administration's Iran nuclear deal, “and that President Trump will do everything he can to make sure that Iran is stayed in check.”

When asked about the potential of further actions against Iran, Spicer replied, “I would never rule anything off the table.”

The Trump administration imposed sanctions on Friday against 25 individuals and companies involved in procuring ballistic missile technology for Iran.

Trump tweeted Friday morning that Iran was “playing with fire” with its recent actions, including ballistic missile tests and an attack on a Saudi naval vessel by Iranaian-backed Houhti militants in Yemen.
