What if 'Occupy Wall Street' Protesters Were Tea Partiers?

The 'Occupy Wall Street' protests have been underway for three weeks now and the liberal media has been nothing but kind in their coverage of the unruly protesters in New York City and elsewhere around the United States. They have portrayed those in attendance with a postive light, even compared them to the Tea Party, but is the scrutiny the same?

This past weekend, 700 people were arrested in New York City at the 'Occupy Wall Street' protests for stopping traffic and shutting down the Brooklyn Bridge. With that, MRCTV contacted Tea Party Patriots' Mark Meckler and asked if there were any arrests made of Tea Party members during protests, from it's inception to this day, and he responded with the following:

"I'm am unaware of a single arrest, or even an 'infraction' or 'citation.'  In fact, the tea party movement is known for being peaceful, non-confrontational, and very clean.  Everywhere we go, we have the cooperation of (and we cooperate with) law enforcement when we hold public events.  From San Diego to Washington DC, and from Florida to Washington state, the tea party movement is made up of law abiding citizens who work to restore the country to governance according to its founding principles."

ABC News recently aired this segment on the 'Occupy Wall Street' protests. Notice how when the Tea Party first began, and even to this day, they were painted as 'racist', 'astroturf', 'powerless'- you name it. Now take a look at the angle ABC took on 'Occupy Wall Street' despite briefly mentioning the arrests.

NBC jumped in the mix and cheered the Wall Street Protests as a liberal version of Tea Party but then went on to denounce the actual Tea Party. As for CBS, they breifly mentioned the arrests in New York City- in a 23 second news clip.

TIME's White House Correspondent Michael Scherer wrote a piece titled, 'Occupy Wall Street: A Tea Party for the Left?' He begins by stating how the Tea Party came to be, then later in comparison with the 'Occupy Wall Street' protesters stated the following:

"There are clear differences between the Tea Party and the Occupy protests. The Tea Party was older, whiter, more rural and, at least initially, more focused on electoral change. Where as the Tea Party inspired a huge share of regular Republican primary voters, it is not clear that the people gathered on Wall Street or in Los Angeles vote, or even see voting as a worthwhile endeavor. But there is huge potential here. It took months for the Tea Party to begin organizing with the help of professional political consultants and activist non-profits. Similarly, there are signs that the labor movement has already begun working with the people on Wall Street, and the Campaign for America’s Future, a long-time institutional force behind the traditional progressive movement, is meeting early this week to discuss ways of expanding the protests."

All of these write-ups and praises with little to no scrutiny on how the protesters were conducting themselves. Can we just imagine what would happen to the Tea Party if they acted in the exact same manner as those at 'Occupy Wall Street'? It wouldn't be pretty.
