Mark Zuckerberg announced on Sunday that he plans to take two months of paternity leave when his daughter is born.
The Facebook CEO did not share an exact due date but did say he and his wife Priscilla are “excited to start this next stage in our lives.”
“This is a very personal decision, and I've decided to take 2 months of paternity leave when our daughter arrives,” said Zuckerberg. “Studies show that when working parents take time to be with their newborns, outcomes are better for the children and families."
Still, Zuckerberg is taking only half as much time off as he gives his employees for maternity and paternity leave.
"At Facebook we offer our US employees up to 4 months of paid maternity or paternity leave which they can take throughout the year," Zuckerberg said. "Every day things are getting a little more real for us, and we're excited to start this next stage in our lives."
Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla first announced the pregnancy in July in a deeply personal post about their struggles to have a child and his wife's three miscarriages.
