Bob Costas attempted to walk back his comments on against the gun culture by stating he supports the 2nd Amendment.  However, when asked about the movie theater shooting in Aurora, Colorado, Costas stated that someone carrying a gun would have been more likely to shoot someone for stepping on their foot in line than lawfully use the gun to stop a gunman.

 Senator Marco Rubio accused President Obama of caring more about trying to score political points by campaigning by higher taxes on the wealthy instead of pursuing a long-term, economically viable solution to the debt problem.  He also argued that Obama’s plan would hurt the economy.

MSNBC host Chris Matthews said that President Obama must terrify Congress into supporting his fiscal cliff proposal.  He advised to the president to be like the "Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come" in A Christmas Carol to frighten the Republican Scrooges into seeing how horrible their future would be unless they went along with the president's plan to resolve the fiscal cliff.

 Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner stated that President Obama will “absolutely” take the country over the fiscal cliff without an agreement to reform the debt ceiling.  President Obama has proposed eliminating Congress’ ability to vote on the debt limit.  Geithner has supported completely eliminating the ceiling.

 House Intelligence Committee member Tom Rooney stated that video of the terrorist attack on the Benghazi Consulate showed to the House of Representatives in a classified briefing by National Intelligence Director James Clapper shows the terrorists easily walking through the gates to the compound before looting the housing quarters and setting it on fire.

Liberal Daily Beast columnist Kirsten Powers argued that semi-automatic weapons aren't needed for protection and should be banned because she felt safe growing up in rural Alaska without a semi-automatic weapon. Keep in mind, Alaska has pretty high gun ownership rates and doesn't even require a permit to carry a weapon.

Former NBA star Charles Barkley told Bob Costas that he carries a gun because it makes him feel safer, and that the root of violence is a crime culture, not a gun culture. He also pointed out that he would only use a firearm under extreme circumstances.

The panel on MSNBC’s Morning Joe whined about the Senate’s failure to pass a UN treaty.  Joe Scarborough dismissed objections to the treaty as “fringe” concerns by the “black helicopter” wing of the GOP.  Mike Barnicle ranted that the treaty’s defeat proved “the system is broken.” Scarborough took to overt lobbying and commanded Republicans to vote on the treaty again so they could pass it.
