In news first broken Wednesday morning by former CNN media reporter Dylan Byers of Puck, embattled CNN chief executive Chris Licht was been let go by the network and parent company Warner Bros. Discovery after a tumultuous tenure marked by his inability to have buy in from a far-left employee base still loyal to their former puppetmaster, Jeff Zucker.

The 9:00 a.m. Eastern hour of CNN News Central made the announcement with a 38-second news brief from co-host Kate Bolduan (click “expand”):

We have news now to report involving our own network. News to us here at CNN and you at home. CNN’s chairman and CEO Chris Licht is leaving the network. Licht took over the network a little over a year ago, David Zaslav, the chairman of CNN’s parent company Warner Bros. Discovery — he just made the announcement at the network editorial meeting.

For now, a leadership team will take his place led by Amy Entelis, who is the executive of talent and content development, along with Virginia Mosley, the EVP of editorial, Eric Sherling, our programming EVP, and David Leavy, our new chief operating officer.
