Jimmy Kimmel Is No 'Free Speech' Victim

Leftists who've suddenly discovered the First Amendment are crying foul over Disney-owned ABC's suspension of Jimmy Kimmel after the late-night talk show host falsely claimed during his show earlier this week that Charlie Kirk's alleged killer was a right-wing MAGA Trump supporter - a claim that had already been proven by the FBI to be untrue.

The move reportedly prompted the FCC, the federal agency tasked with licensing and regulating broadcast networks, and which includes a rule on the books against those networks reporting false information about tragic or disaster events, to pressure ABC to deal with the situation. The network responded by indefinitely suspending Kimmel, whose ratings had already plummeted in recent years as part of an overall decline in late-night show viewership.

But while the left says Kimmel's suspension is an infringement on free speech, let me remind by suddenly censorship-wary friends that while you have the right to speak, you do not have the right to get paid by a company to lie.

And while we're at it, Roseanne Barr and Gina Carano would like a word.
