23-Year-Old Man Poses As Teenager, Becomes High School Honor Student

Pennsylvania police have discovered that a Ukrainian man who has been attending high school and was only months from graduating is actually 23 years old.

And I have to say, I can see why he was able to get away with it.

Artur Samarin, who went by the alias "Asher Potts", was arrested and charged identity theft and tampering with public records after his visa expired.

During his years posing as a high school student, Samarin was quite the high achiever. He was a member of the school's ROTC and Naval Sea Cadet programs. He was also a member of the National Honor Society.

Samarin enrolled at Harrisburg High School four years ago and was only four moths away from graduating when the police acted on a two-month-old tip and destroyed his dreams of acquiring a diploma.

While Samrin's actions are strange -- perhaps even a bit creepy -- he seems to have been well liked by his fellow students.

"It's totally mind-blowing to me," said Marcel McCaskill, a former friend who once put together a science project with Samrin during a summer program at Penn State. "Honestly, he was a very respectable guy. He was the perfect role model, someone you would want your son to look up to."
