Crime is bad, it’s true. But every now and then, you come across a criminal who’s just so colossally bad at it, that it becomes humorous.
This is one such occasion. So enjoy, and happy Monday.
A man has been arrested after calling 911 to report he’d injured himself while trying to steal a car from a dealership.
Jeremiah Megallon, 38, was arrested last Thursday morning in Texas by the Tyler Police Department after he called 911 for help, saying he’d hurt himself while trying to lift a vehicle from the Patterson Dodge dealership. According to his own admission, he’d cut himself on broken glass after throwing a rock at a window and attempting to climb in to steal the car.
Adding much-deserved insult to injury, the police said Megallon could have easily left the dealership through several doors that were unlocked from the inside, rather than turning himself in. But I guess being a total idiot didn't serve him well when it came to thinking through his options.

"Unfortunately for him, there were several unlocked doors he could have used to get out," Public Information Officer Andy Erbaugh told Fox News Digital, adding that ”After 26 years here, truth is stranger than fiction.”
The would-be car thief was treated for his injuries at a local hospital before being Megallon taken to the Smith County Jail and booked on charges of burglarizing a building.
A dealership employee said Megallon didn’t manage to steal anything except some candy off a salesperson’s desk.
