Clinton Denies Her 2008 Campaign Started Obama Muslim Rumors

Democratic presidential candidate, Hillary Clinton flatly denied rumors that either she or her campaign started rumors that then Senator Barack Obama was a Muslim, during the 2008 Democratic presidential primary. In an interview, Wednesday, on the nationally syndicated Tom Joyner Morning Show, Clinton called the accusations "ludicrous." She also denied that there was a confrontation between her and then Senator Obama, regarding the matter.

"You know, honestly, I just believe that, first of all, it’s totally untrue," said Clinton. "The President and I have never had any kind of confrontation like that. You know, this is such a bad example of what’s wrong with, you know, instantaneous reactions and Americans getting all worked up and people feeding prejudice and paranoia like Donald Trump."

The accusation of the Clinton campaign being complicit in spreading the rumor stems from a picture, allegedly circulated to media by the campaign in 2008, that shows Obama wearing a turban and dressed in traditional Somali garb.  The Obama campaign leveled heavy criticism at the Clinton camp for circulating the photograph calling it "divisive."

Hillary herself once dodged a question when asked if Obama was a Muslim, saying there was no evidence of that “as far as I know.” Not exactly a staunch confirmation of Obama's Christian faith.
